| Laiko Kafekoptio Ltd was founded in 1948, by a group of coffee shop keepers. Their aim was to provide for their first material, coffee, that was under a quota. Laiko Kafekoptio Ltd started operation, with 6 employees, 3 men and 3 women, a manual roaster and a used mill. Laiko has developed considerably since then. Modern machinery replaced the used ones and cars were bought. Laiko Coffee increase continuously, and new products are introduced. In the period 1951 – 1964 Laiko expands its operations to the production of confectionery. In 1964 major European confectionery and chocolate brands are exclusively sold in Cyprus by Laiko. In 1975 its own business units is set up. Additionally Star Polybag is founded, in 1989 and Mr Chips Trading Co in 1995. Mr Chips is renamed to Freezeland Industries Ltd in 1998. Freezeland is trading mainly frozen potatoes and vegetables, dairy products etc. In 2002 when the merge between the companies of Laiko Group takes place, Laiko Kafekoptio Ltd produces imports and distributes more than 600 products.
